- John Allan Zombie Awareness Month survival tip #14: Fire is useful only in conjunction with nonflammable barriers. If you are holed up in a castle or walled compound, trenches filled with pitch or oil or gasoline or other combustible substance are very useful, because the zombies will be stuck in fire long enough to destroy the brain.
