iPhone catching up with 1970

I do love my iPhone. I use it every day to wake me up. I had fun with the various noises it makes (I find the Alarm noise to be very panic-inducing at 6:00 am).

But now I've grown bored with them and am wondering why I can't choose one of the 1438 songs on it to wake me up. I mean, what if I want to wake up to Scissor Sisters, or my favorite Backstreet Boy (!). I have to use Applescript on my mac in the other room and leave the machine in some state of readiness and program iCal to activate the applescript etc etc. Pain in the butt.

All I want is for some tune to blare out of my iPhone to wake me up. Is that too much to ask? I'd even be happy with a random tune. Even though the iPhone suffers with the exact same calendar based sucky random feature as everything else in the iTunes Music line. (how else could you explain hearing the same air supply song on 2 different iPods, an iPhone and 2 different Macs on the same day when every single device had more than 1000 other tracks to choose from [the macs both had 8000 other tracks to choose from] - and they thought the secret service was up to something in Dallas this week, check out the way iTunes chooses random tunes sometime - but I digress).

I can't wait for the SDK to come out in the future (this week?) so we can start doing some really cool things that Apple never thought of (like waking to music, circa 1970 and mom's clock radio…)
