Who Dat?

My big brother sent me to this website to figure out who I should vote for in 2008.

I answered all of the questions, what I am for, what I'm against, etc. It let me rank which issues I thought were important (no war, kyoto treaty, etc) and which ones I thought weren't such a big deal (gun control, school vouchers, etc). And when it was all done it told me who I should vote for.

Now I listen to talk radio, I read blogs, I pay some attention to what's going on out there (and it scares the hell out of me), but I have to say I am not sure I've ever heard of the candidate that it picked for me to vote for.

It did firm up my resolve for moving someday to Alaska, though.

For me it said:

Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel (D)
96.43% match

96.43% match. That seems like a lot to me. I grew up in the era where we don't trust our politicians. And this guy has a record that matches my 20 or so choices 96 and a half percent. Sweet.

I am so going to go look him up and find out what we disagree on.

My next few choices are:

  • Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich (D) – 89.29%
  • Illinois Senator Barack Obama (D) – 67.86%
  • New York Senator Hillary Clinton (D) – 64.29%
  • New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (D) – 64.29%

So my top choice matches 96%, number 2 is 89%, and the two front runner Democrats are both in the 60s. Interesting.

Funny, the first republican that shows up in the list is at 46%, and from Texas (Ron Paul). Also interesting is that all the Democrats in my list are above 50% and all the Republicans are below 50%. I guess that shouldn't be much of a surprise, but I think I expected there to be some mingling of the two parties in the middle somewhere. I suppose that just highlights the polarization of the country by the chief monkey puppet and his players in the past few years.

I also find it very interesting that the sidebar says Former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel (D) is preferred over all the other candidates with almost a 4 point lead. I also find it very scary that both Romney and Giuliani are in the top 5.

Enough about me. How'd you do? Here's the link so you can go play, too: Find Your Candidate at vajoe.com

The blog told me that I am an 86.4% match with Fred Thompson (go figure) and least likey to vote for John McCain. The Dems didn't even show on my scale (imagine that)…

Wish Ike, Tricky Dick, or Ronny Ray-gun were running in '08! Then, I would have real dilemmas in voting…

hahaha. If Tricky Dick or Ronny Ray-gun were running then there really would be a dilemma in voting.

Mine is Kucinich, followed closely by Gravel. All of the Dems came in above 60%. No matter who ultimately wins the nomination, I think I'll be pretty happy. I don't look forward to the commercials, though…

krikey I heart a huckabee and a republican at that, but only at 67%. Maybe I filled out the form incorrectly on my iPhone.
