Please, please, please, if you have control over the phone systems at your company, fix them so they don't play music when people are on hold. A throwback to the 70s when it was cool to do stupid things, Hold Music interferes with my day when I have to wait on the phone for a "service" company to help me out.
Right this second I've been listening to the same song for 24 minutes and 37 seconds. sucks to be me.
Know, too, that I usually have my *own* music or sound going in my *own* space. I do not like having to pause the news or my music in order to listen to your piano concerto in d minor.
a simple beep every 10 seconds or so to remind me I'm connected seems like a much more elegant fix.
So does anyone know how to start a grass roots movement to ban hold music? It's just one of those annoying things that could be so easy to set right.

Oh, and as a side comment, if you run a service company, do something about hiring enough people so you don't ever have to say "due to high volumes of calls, you're gonna have to wait [and listen to our crappy hold music]." I mean seriously, if it only happened once a year it'd be one thing, but it happens on every single friggin call.

that's my honey!
On the other hand, don't give me a commercial for your company while I'm on hold either. I usually call when something goes wrong, and the LAST thing I want to hear is how wonderful your company is. So there!
