Priests and Cannibals

Nurse SharkI wonder whatever happened to Philip Crist? That's not his real name, but that's what the phone said whenever he called. It seems IT had programmed his name in incorrectly.

Philip, if you happen to be reading this, drop me a line.

An article in the NY Times reminded me of him because of a conversation we once had based on a song I was listening to. I changed my share name on my Mac (back before the PCs were cluttering up the local network) to "Parthenogenesis". Philip thought that was odd and we had a conversation.

He's also the only person who's ever convinced me to actually go to the driving range and swing a real golf club. Of course, he was showing me how to move my hips, so who was I to say no?

Ah, the nineties. I'm glad they're over, but I enjoyed going through them at the same time. I find it especially amusing to see how random thoughts come up from the strangest places.

Here's the article, if you are inclined to go read it:

A hammerhead shark that gave birth in a Nebraska aquarium reproduced without mating, a genetic analysis shows.

Interesting and curious and fascinating… Of course the real message is Mother Nature saying, "Be nice to me, or I will f@#k you up."

I'm just happy to see a blog entry after a 10-day lull!

Sorry about that whole lull thing, I've been really busy. Plus, when I added some things to the blog ten days ago, I accidentally erased all of the pictures I"ve uploaded for it since around December. Gone: the cow in the cowboy hat in the chick-fil-a post. Gone: the cool picture of the walkway that sticks out over the grand canyon. Gone: who knows what else. My bad. I have a full backup of the site, except for one tiny area – which just happened to include those pictures. So now I'm all bummed about the blog. Oh well. Now the backup has been extended to include those things, so it won't happen again. And now maybe I'll start posting more often again. who can really know.

You've been totally invisible on ichat too…I was starting to get worried.
I'm all about the Girl Shark power, but I'm gonna go on record as a fan of the old fashioned way to reproduce. Gotta love a classic.
