I had occasion to think of Bimbo again today. I do miss her and think the time to get a new dog is fast approaching.
Now, don't hate me for this, but here's what made me think of her:
When I lived in San Francisco, Bimbo would sit in the hallway and stare at the front door. Every once in a while, she would get up and come over and see what I was doing. Mostly she just sat and stared at the door. When the mailperson was nearby, she would announce it to the world in her special way (that would be barking and jumping and growling and defending the homestead the way dogs do sometimes). She would also occasionally announce when someone besides the mailperson showed up. She would always let us know someone was there before they actually knocked on the door.
Today, Mom sits in the chair and stairs out the windows at the front of the house. Every once in a while, she gets up and comes over to see what I'm doing on my MacBook Pro on the kitchen table. Whenever anyone pulls up outside on the curb, she announces in her own special way (that would be by saying "there's James" or "here's Robyn"). She always let's me know someone is there before they've even had a chance to walk up the sidewalk to the front door.
Now, do you see why I was reminded of my dog? I do love my mom, but Bimbo was cuter.
