CNN Reports: Experts slam upcoming global warming report
I saw this headline and thought, "gee, some people just never get it." "It" being that we are destroying our planet. "It" being that everyone who knows the science agrees. "It" being the way we can put our heads in the the sand and choose to ignore obvious things.
I thought "great, here's some lab-coated expert that The Administration has dug up to claim Global Warming isn't an issue." Again.
I thought, "I wonder what Good Housekeeping magazine has to say about the Global Warming this week. What light can Modern Bride magazine shed on cancer research? And exactly where does Men's Fitness weigh in on the whole theory of evolution?"
But in 2002, Antarctica's 1,255-square-mile Larsen B ice shelf broke off and disappeared in just 35 days. And recent NASA data shows that Greenland is losing 53 cubic miles of ice each year — twice the rate it was losing in 1996.
Then I read the article and was relieved to see that the "slam" on the report was because it was being too soft. Yay!
I feel kind of bad at this point, because I feel like I'm driving past a car wreck and rubbernecking to see what happened. Only this time what's happening isn't just on the highway. It's called "Global" for a reason. This is not an accident that we are going to be able to go past and forget about.
