We Love You, Lily

Sad news today, and only a few days after mine and TJ's most recent discussion about the matter.

Lily MunsterYvonne De Carlo died on Monday. She was 84. I guess it's time to pop in The Munsters DVDs and have a marathon.

TV in the 60s was way different than today. I can't say it's improved much, if at all, over the past 40 years. The Munsters still resonates with some of today's issues. I still get a kick out of watching them.

Shows like Bewitched, The Addams Family and even I Dream of Jeannie were just a little outside of reality, but were all good at getting under our skin with a tiny dose of conscience. We've since moved on to sitcoms about jobs, hospital emergency dramas, and cop show after cop show.

I'm glad that Yvonne De Carlo lived a long life and was able to play such an iconic role. I always wanted to live in that house at 1313 Mockingbird Lane and have a dragon for a pet. Maybe there's still hope somewhere.
