Now that September is almost over, I feel like I should do a followup on the post from last May. It's the one that starts off like this:
Only twice in the history of widgets on my Mac, the magic 8 ball widget has given me a “yes definitely” answer
To actually decide if the Magic 8 Ball is perfect again, we have to better understand the question. My original question wasn't vague, and yet it is open somewhat to interpretation. For example, President Clinton said he didn't have sex with the fat chick because he doesn't consider oral sex to be sex, even tho it has sex right in it's name.
So the when I ask the M8B a personal question I can only assume that it is using my personal definitions for the answers. N'est pas?
And no, The Question wasn't about sex. Of course, if you read this blog with any regularity you can probably figure out what the question was, because the answer was all about September. Yay.
I have to say that it pegged the future again. Now that it's batting 1000, it makes me fearful of actually asking any other questions. If I retire it now, it will go out with a perfect score. Of course, if I actually believed in the power of the Predicting Orb, then I would never be fearful of asking anything, because a "yes definitely" answer is always the truth.
Then there's that whole delimma about knowing the future. Does it really do any good to know?
Or maybe, the Magic of the 8 Ball is that it doesn't predict the future, but controls it. And it's esoteric-ness about it all confuses us and makes us believe it's revealing an answer when it's really just showing us its plan.
This could go on forever. make it stop!
