I'm not making this up. On the AfterElton.com website, I just saw an ad for a really bad movie that I got from Netflix a few weeks back. The makers of the movie actually paid to have this slogan put on a website:
"One of the first Gay Asian Films of its kind" – The Advocate
HAhahaha! Now that would make sense if it were advertising a movie made by Jon Stewart and The Daily Show crowd. Remember "America. The Book"? This little film was supposed to be a drama, but it was more of a sleep aid.
As an example of how boring it was, pay attention to the wishy washy marketing statement: "one of…". They won't even go on record as saying that it is the very first Gay Asian Film about a boy who gets thrown out of his house in Southern California and then returns and accidentally takes his whole family hostage with the help of the love of his life whom he just met outside on the sidewalk. Maybe that's what it means by "…of its kind". At least I think that's what it was about, I kept falling asleep.
