Trying to lease my basement apartment vs. not my boyfriend

I've been posting my basement apartment on craigslist now for almost two months. It's a nice enough space, with all bills paid and a private washer and drier. It has a full kitchen and a dishwasher. It's carpeted, and quiet. It's priced in the range of the apartments across the street, and it's a great location – especially for anyone who attends OHSU or works there.

I've shown it at least four times a week all through January and so far in February. And at least once a week, I've had someone walk out really excited and say they definitely want it. Then they disappear and I never hear from them again.

I even had one couple that was moving to town who only wanted it for a few months until they got settled here in Portland. They faxed me the application and everything, and then when it came down to actual money changing hands, the company that was moving them to town provided them with a temporary home so they backed out.

It's interesting. Tonight I told Dan he has to move in since he keeps saying "No". The logic is that since everyone who says "yes" doesn't, then whoever says "no" must. Sounds good to me, but it didn't work.

Now I have to figure out what I'm going to do.
