Bimbo's Ghost or a Burglar?

So I'm still getting over the flu a bit. I'm almost back to 100%, yay! During the past week or so, as I've been doing nothing and laying in bed a lot, I've been watching the first season of Smallville on DVD.

Smallville is dangerous for me, as I can't seem to watch just one episode at a time. Usually I can stop after two or three episodes, but sometimes I crank up to five at a time. That's why it's the perfect show to watch when I'm required to lay in bed and do nothing.

So last night, at about 10pm, I watched the final episode of season one. I don't know if you've seen this first Smallville cliffhanger, but it's almost comical in the setup for the hanging part. Lex gets smashed by furniture, Lionel has a wood-splintered pointy beam aimed right at his eyeball, Johnathan is chasing an evil newspaper reporter on foot through a multi-tornado-ridden storm (and a mobile home lands on them and yet they are still in Kansas), and of course, Clark has to leave Chloe at the Spring Formal Dance during her favorite song to go save Lana who's in a bright red Dodge pickup that's been sucked up by a tornado and is flying around in circles 200 feet above the ground. And just at that moment, it says "…to be continued…".

Damn Smallville. I wish I knew how to quit you. So I had to get the season 2 disc and start watching those. Now I'll be watching Smallville DVDs for weeks before I get through them all and am able to withdraw from the curse.

ANYWAY, back to today's topic, while I was watching the 3rd episode of season 2, I started hearing some of it in surround sound. Weird. So I paused it to see what the other noises were. The video stopped, but the noises continued.

I looked up at my ceiling, through the huge skylight above my bed and just for a second I thought Bimbo was looking down at me. Brown eyes, white face, super sweet, and then I realized it was not the Ghost of Bimbo, but it was a giganto Raccoon. It's white face had the black burglar's mask. It had 5 little fingers on each hand mashed up against the skylight. And it was staring at me.

So I stood up and tried to get a better look, but I guess I spooked it and it left. I heard it scampering across the roof and back to the tree behind my house.

That's just the kind of thing that would have excited Bimbo and made her pace back and forth and keep me awake for an hour. I miss her. I guess I'm going to have to get another dog before too much longer.
