Why do I care if Bush's government is tapping my phone?
The only real concern I have is that my hard earned tax dollars are paying some NSA agent to listening to endless hours of "what do you want to see?, I don't know, what do you want to see? let's go see Brokeback Mountain again. no, let's go see something we haven't seen yet. is there anything on at the Hollywood Theatre? when do you think they'll do another Godzilla Festival?"
I believe that if all the secrets went away, then the world would be a much better place. In the book "Conversations with God" written by a snooty California Bay Area hippy guy, he suggests that if everyone knew how much money everyone else made, then most of the crime and injustice in this world would go away.
If I remember the premise right, it basically suggested that people who made too much would be beaten down to the common level, and people who made too little would be brought up to the same level.
I don't know if that's true, but I do know that 99% of all confrontations I've witnessed in Corporate America revolve around when someone finds out how much money is being spent on something they think should be cheaper.
"You make how much? I only make 80% of that, and I work harder than you doing the same thing!
Funny, how can I work "harder" if I'm "doing the same thing?" Oh, wait, it must be because I'm me. I get it now.
So, back to the original premise, here's an open letter to the Chief Monkey Puppet:
Dear President,
It's OK if you want to bug my telephone. I got nothing to hide. You are an idiot and you do a lot of things I don't agree with, but I don't care if you listen to me. One of the responsibilities I have with the First Amendment guaranteeing my Freedom of Speech is to make sure I say something worthwhile. So, please feel free to listen in anytime. And if you do hear us discussing what movie to go see, feel free to join us and see how Gay Americans really do live in this country when we are just working to try to keep our mortgages paid, our bills under control and our families together.
thanks

I think it's remarkable that the government is willing to listen to anyone, even if it is just the terrorist suspects.

Actually, to extend the principle that you are espousing regarding salaries, if the prez wants to listen in on your conversations, we should get to listen to his… so if his listening keeps us from spouting anti-americanisms, us listening to him might keep him from … well, selling off america to the lowest bidders.
good Idea! that's exactly where I would've headed…
