Today I drove my visiting father out to Astoria (that's in Oregon, right at the end of the Columbia River, for those of you new to these parts). We drove across the 3 mile long bridge into Washington and then we drove around to Cape Disappointment.
Of course, we were disappointed because we refused to pay the entry fees to the Washington State park, so we drove away.
A few miles north we found a turn off for a light house to check out. When we got out of the car, all we could hear was a helicopter, but we couldn't see it. So we hiked a quarter of a mile and found a clearing and this is what we saw:
Sure we took pictures of the light house, and of the bridge, but they just don't seem as interesting as watching a Coast Guard Guy dangling from a chopper.
