Ohio Gov sets "high" expectations

From an article today at cnn.com, Ohio's governor makes some off-handed comments as he is convicted on four misdemeanor counts:

The second-term Republican said that as governor he expected all state workers to follow state ethics laws.

"In this instance I have failed to live up to those high expectations," he said.

I don't understand. When in this country did "not breaking the law" become a "high expectation" for a politician.

I say it's time to make career politicians illegal too. We need to find a way to make their jobs about us, and not about power.

That's easy: change the way they are elected. There are lots of ways to do that: ban all political ads, candidate exposure comes from debates only, hold voters to task for actually voting (those that don't lose the right). Wouldn't it be nice to be able to watch "Teen Titans" without political commericals?
