For the computer nerds: words we never expected to hear 10 years ago

There's a new supercomputer cluster built around Apple's Xserve at UIUC. In reading the general propaganda article, I ran across this quote:

"Having a cluster system based on Macs is the ultimate in compatibility," said Heath.

When I was the Mac guy at NASA/MSFC, no one would ever have accused the Mac of being compatible. Funny how a few years and a Unix based operating system can change people's minds.

This at a time with the other platform with over 90% marketshare is being pursued constantly for not being compatible. It must really suck to be 90%+ of the market and not be compatible…

    All I can say is YAY! Truth be told though, Apple's OS X is based on UNIX, and UNIX is probably dominant in the server world rather than windows.

    As far as I know, Unix (in its various flavors) dominates the server market.
