Freedom everywhere except America

Why is it that the USA is becoming more and more repressive for it's Gay citizens while out of the other side of it's mouth it is preaching to the world about expanding Freedom?

What is it about who a person is or what a person thinks that makes them an instant enemy of people from thousands of miles away (don't think it's true? tell some random bible belt person that I'm Gay in Oregon and they will start spouting how I'm going to hell).

Why are we throwing stones when we live in a glass house?

Why is it the people with higher IQs that don't like Bush so much while the people with the lower IQs do?

Is the USA really entering this cultural war? if so, it's being staged by the conservatives. All the liberals I know allow others to live their lives in the way that suits the others, not the liberals. Why is it that the conservatives want to force their own brand of life on everyone?

What happened to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?

Why, indeed. Terms like "freedom" and "democracy" are vaporware. It's easy to use them like a bludgeon – and hasn't the reason for invading Iraq now changed to "bring democracy"? These ultra-conservatives sprinkle their rhetoric with "freedom" and "democracy" – but they never define them. They can't; otherwise, they would have to show how no one can live up to such a definition.

I wouldn't be surprised if we are in a very slow-burning cultural war. No end in sight.
