What a spectacular trip! Dan and I are back from Seattle. it was part of our ongoing "whirlwind excursions" weekend trips throughout the Pacific Northwest. He had been to Seattle a few years ago, but I hadn't been for over a decade.
Now we have a whole series of inside jokes and a lot of fun memories all packed into the time from the end of the day on Friday until Sunday night.
We started by driving to Tacoma and spending the night at the Chinaberry Hill Bed and Breakfast that we found on the internet. It was a super cool lucky find. We ended up with the whole carriage house to ourselves and ended up reading from a 1907 book of American humorists. Dan gave me a Blinky squishy toy for my birthday and all was well with the world. The owners of the B&B were loaded with interesting stories as we found Saturday morning at breakfast when we stayed in the dining room chatting until NOON.
So if you're in Tacoma, go there. Stay there. You'll be glad you did. The card has the wrong area code on it, the correct number is 253-272-1282. Tell 'em Paul sent you…
After lunch on Saturday, we went to the Chihuly Glass Museum and watched some artists from Mexico making glass sculpture. We also tooled around a bit and saw a fascinating 10 foot tall sculpture that was spinning in front of a strobe-light. It gave the illusion of hard ceramic stuff morphing into other things as they progressed. I wish I could have posted a picture of it here, but you know how museums are.

Then we drove to Bremerton and took the Ferry into Seattle. Yay! I'll be posting all the pictures in a couple of days when I get them all together (combine Dan's and My photos).
For our 24 hour tour of Seattle, we rode a Ferris Wheel, went up in The Space Needle at night, Walked up and down Broadway, found and bought a copy of Rawhide Kid that I've been looking for for around 2 years, made it to Pikes Market, ate at the Crab Pot, rode the Monorail and went up in The Space Needle again. Everything could be a much longer description, but hey, if you wanna see the stuff, go there yourself.
The Crab Pot was fun and deserves a special mention, they literally dumped a bucket of crab, oysters, clams, shrimp, salmon and halibut on butcher paper on the table and we ate with our fingers and a wooden mallet. Tasty.
All the other details of the trip are on a need to know basis, and I don't think anyone really needs to know. And even though we did see the donut in Volunteer Park, I have to admit that we only saw it through the telescope from the observation deck of The Space Needle.
